Starting this week, GYM is going to bring you a "pick of the week": products, designers, events, organizations, etc. that stand out as being awesome supporters of living life green. So, if you are like us, and you love learning about ways to change YOUR life to do your part in keeping our environment safe, make sure you check out our weekly picks to find out about all of the amazing people out there who are going green, and how you can get involved too!
Obviously recycling a huge part of living a eco-friendly life. Cutting back on using water bottles, and recycling the ones we do use is an easy way to do our part in keeping our environment a bit "greener." A lot of people have started carrying reusable water bottles, which is a fantastic way to cut back on plastic production. Sometimes though, we get out the door without one, or we just don't have a place to put one! Vapur water bottles make it ridiculously easy to make sure you never leave the house without a water bottle. These water bottles are compact-able, and can go anywhere with you.
Vapur water bottles are freezer and dishwasher safe, and can literally fit about anywhere: in your pocket, in your purse, even on your key chain thanks to the carabiner they come on! You can visit their website to see all of their color selections and learn more about their product:

Starting The School Year Off Right!
As the 2010 school year starts off GYM is hitting the ground running! The last weekend in August was a busy one for us; on August 28 we were part of our first Food Rendezvous, and on August 29 we had our 2010 kick off meeting for new GYM members.
The Food Rendezvous was a great event, if you were unable to make it out for the one in August, you should check it out in upcoming months. It was a great opportunity to network, learn about other organizations, and to see all of the awesome products the local vendors had to offer. We tried sweet tea made with raw sugar, freshly made gelato, amazing vegan chocolate chip cookies, and a few other delicious treats. I have to admit, I am not a health nut, but the more organic food that I ate at this event tasted SO much better than any other I had tried before; the cookies were especially amazing! Our GYM girls did a great job running the booth that we had set up and made some really wonderful connections. Our trendy GYM reusable shopping bags were sold at the event, and were a big hit! (check out our facebook page to see pictures of the new bag, they are only 3 dollars!) We were also handing our our Live Green bracelets to everyone who signed the green pledge and took that step towards living a greener life!
Our kick off meeting took place on Sunday at our new student president's house, and we were thrilled with the turn out. The room was packed with awesome girls ready to get involved with GYM. We had some really great brainstorming time, and the possibilities this year seem limitless. We are excited about creating relationships with other schools and having enthusiastic student ambassadors to carry the GYM torch in their schools. The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show is one of our biggest current projects, and that is something that you guys can help out with too! Visit http://gymfashionshowtix.eventbrite.com/ to purchase your tickets for October 16th. If you can't make the event, but you or someone you know would be interested in sponsoring this event, please contact Megan at Megan@greenyouthmovement.org The fashion show was a big topic at our kick off meeting, and we are all very excited to see it happen! If you would like to be on our email list to find out about meetings and how you can bring GYM into your school, send Megan an email so she can keep you in the loop!
